Welcome to the official website of The Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust.
Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust or more fondly known as R.A.O.S.T. has just celebrated it's
Centenary Year. The Society began in 1909 with a production of Gilbert and Sullivans 'The Mikado'
in the Old Druids Hall, this later became the Gem Theatre and now St Rumon's Gardens. 100 years
have past and this 'Grand Old Lady' still entertains audiences with fresh new shows as well as the family favourites. We hope that you will enjoy looking at this site and seeing some of the highlights of this Society, the history, the achievements. It also shows what we are currently doing and how you can give, whether this means money, time, skills. All can help to keep RAOST very much alive and kicking in the world of theatre here in the
South West. R.A.O.S.T. is a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association N.O.D.A.

We have now introduced a 'Latest News' page under 'About Us' where you can read the latest news and information relating to the Society.

Oliver - Noda Report

Superb! Superb! Superb! That is the only way to describe R.A.O.S.T.’s fourth production of their centenary year! From the opening notes to the excellent orchestra to the very last tableau we were treated to a top class show. Every word of lib and song was heard clearly and also well acted. Almost every principal shone whether in a major part of a smaller role. This is a show with a large cast but each part of it worked together to make a fantastic ensemble piece. Director Trevor Hitchings did a wonderful job on every bit of the show with lovely pictures and innovative touches that made us see this popular show from a fresh perspective as well as the traditional story. Costumes, scenery, make-up, lighting and sound were all excellent. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to see Fagin’s gang with a bit more dirt on their faces, hands and costumes. Having seen Oliver countless times over the years I was delighted to see it afresh with sparkling energy from a well drilled cast driven by a first rate director.
